Safety risk

• Damaging your eyesight after looking into a high temperature kiln
• Electrical shock
• Burns

Placement

Electric kiln must be placed 18-24 inch (50cm) away from a wall. So it have an adequate amount of breathing room and space between them.

Non combustible floor is required: concrete, tile, marble

Place a fire extinguisher

Interior of the kiln during firing

Many ceramists fire with pyrometric cones (check their position)

Light generated

Infrared and ultraviolet rays are emitted from the kiln

Repeated exposure can cause cumulative eye damage.

Special glasses are required: each glass is different according the degree you fire
